My new album Pór was lauched at Feile na hInse 2024 at a special concert in The Colgan Hall, Carndonagh, Inishowen, County Donegal on Friday 26th April 2024.

Pór is a word I found in the publication, ‘Last of the Name’, by Charles McGlinchey. It is a word in Irish that he used to describe families who were musical:

a breed of people who had the music in them”.

The album is a collection of music composed by some of Inishowen's finest musicians and explores how music is  carried through the generations. On this album along with my own compositions I have been privileged to have had the opportunity to explore work from Oisin Duffy, Mick Denieffe, Edel McLaughlin, Melanie Houton, Paul Harrigan, Paula Houton, Ella McGrory, Thomas Strain, Shane Devlin and Paul McClure. I have also revisited work by Dinny McLaughlin and an archival song from the Honoria Galwey Collection and a song "A Mhamaí lig mé chun Aoinaigh', the words of which were remembered by Charles McGlinchey and to which I have composed a new melody.

On the album I am joined by Steve Cooney on guitar, Ella McGrory on piano and Paul McClure on bodhran. Deirdre McGrory also performs the two songs with strong Inishowen roots.

The album is now available on my Bandcamp Page.
